Leveling Up: Watching Our Son Grow in the Game He Loves

Baseball wasn’t always part of our family’s world. We’re a football family at heart—our older son, Izzy, played football, and my husband Art not only played football but went on to coach our son Izzy for 16 years! in NYS, Pop Warner, and for a couple of different high schools here in the Valley. So when our younger son started showing interest in baseball a few years ago, it was a whole new experience for us.

1st season

He started with tee ball, then moved into coach pitch, and now he’s playing in a more competitive league. And this season has been something special.

From the start, we could feel a shift. The drills were more focused, the pace faster, and the competition a notch higher. But our boy showed up ready. Ready to work, ready to learn, and more than anything, ready to play the game he truly loves.

We’ve seen so much growth in him this season. His swing is more powerful, his throws are more accurate, and he’s thinking strategically on the field. He’s not just playing baseball—he’s becoming a ballplayer.

2nd season

A big part of that is thanks to his coaches. They’ve struck the perfect balance of discipline and encouragement, and it’s clear they’re invested in helping every kid succeed. They push them to improve, but they also make it fun—and that’s what keeps our son excited to show up every practice, every game.

Game days are our new family tradition. We’re in the stands, cheering like crazy, hearts bursting with pride at every play—win or lose. Watching him grow more confident and capable with each passing week has been such a gift.

3rd season

We may have started as a football family, but there’s no doubt about it now: baseball has made its mark. And we’re loving every minute of it.
